Register

You need to be registered to post new content. This is an easy process where you just submit your name and email address. To do so, go to the registration page and sign up.

If you are registered on the support.eiffel.com page alredy, just use the same username and password to sign in at eiffelroom.

Submitting an article

To submit an article go the Create content page and choose Article. An article is either a an example or a tutorial.

The general guidelines are outlined here:

Category

When creating an article, make sure to select the appropriate category:

• Example: A short example.
• Tutorial: A more step-by-step explanation of a topic.

Level

Choose the intended audience of your article.

Tags

As the author you can choose the inital set of tags of your article. Users of eiffelroom can later add additional tags to your article.

Teaser

This is just a short description which is used as a teaser on the news page.

Body

See the formatting tips on how to format the text.

References

If your article is about a tool or library from eiffelroom you can select them as a reference. That way the article can be shown on these pages.

Use the provided text fields for additional references.

Adding Support for New Platform (adding a cross compiler for non-supported plafforms)??

Perhaps an article on the subject of adding cross-platform/compiler support to any Eiffel IDE would be a great addition to this forum?

Maintaining a library

If you have a library you want to share with the Eiffel community then please post the library here. Go to the create library page and fill in the information:

• Short Description: A one-line description to summarize your library.
• Description: The full description of the library
• URL: If you have your own website for the library, provide the link here.
• API Description: If you have an API description of your library, provide the link here.
• File attachments: If you don't have your own website, attach an archive containing your library for others to download.

By adding your library here, you and others can write examples and tutorials explaining the use of the library. These pages then link to the library page.

If you have a tool you want to share with the Eiffel community then please post the tool here. Go to the create tool page and fill in the information:

• Short Description: A one-line description to summarize your tool.
• Description: The full description of the tool.
• URL: If you have your own website for the tool, provide the link here.
• File attachments: If you don't have your own website, attach an archive containing your tool (source code or compiled).

By adding your library here, you and others can write examples and tutorials explaining the use of the tool. These pages then link to the tool page.

Formatting

When writing articles, comments or other text on eiffelroom you can use the Mediawiki syntax known from Wikipedia. This can be used for text formatting such as italics or bold.

For the link syntax you can use the name of any article, library, tool or package for a link. Just write [[EiffelStudio]] for a link to EiffelStudio.

Additionally you can use special tags for syntax highlighting. See the tips page for further information. This page is also referenced at the bottom of textfields for reference.
